This year’s Slough in Bloom gardens and allotments competition launched earlier in May. The competition has been running for an amazing 32 years having launched in the borough in 1994. The then Mayor Siobhan Dauti launched the competition in Herschel Park with members of the Slough in Bloom committee. This year’s campaign encourages creative, eco-friendly gardening that not only boosts aesthetic appeal but also supports local biodiversity. Entries are open until 27 June, with judging taking place from 6 July (allotments from 13 July). Anyone can enter for free and there are nine different categories to choose from: Residential front garden Residential hanging baskets, window boxes and containers (front of property) Community project Business/ commercial/hospital Student project Public house/restaurant/hotel Best allotment plot Best allotment newcomer Environmental project. Mayor Siobhan Dauti, said: “It was my pleasure to take a walk in the glorious sunshine to Herschel Park to help launch the Slough in Bloom competition. There is a category for everyone from residential front garden to community project, or best allotment plot. “Anyone can enter for free, just send an email to sloughinbloom@gmail.com. I look forward to seeing a brighter, more colourful Slough in the upcoming months. Good luck to all of our green fingered residents who enter.” Bruce Hicks, senior parks improvement officer, said: “I'm happy to support Slough in Bloom as it celebrates its 32nd year. There are categories for pots and flower baskets, so anyone can take part, even if you only have a balcony or a doorstep. I’m excited to see the entries that will help make our borough a brighter, more welcoming place. The competition depends on the generosity of our sponsors, and we’re always glad to welcome new sponsors to keep it going strong.” Phil Vance, Chair of Slough in Bloom, said: “I am absolutely delighted to be bringing Slough in Bloom to the residents of Slough for 2026. Our goal is to foster community pride through horticulture, brightening our streets and neighbourhoods. I wish every entrant a wonderful and rewarding growing season, and I cannot wait to see how our community brings colour to Slough. As we launch this year’s competition, we remember with fondness Margaret Inniss, who nurtured Slough in Bloom for more than 30 years. I hope that Slough in Bloom brings colour to all of our lives and brightens everybody's summer this year, as Margaret intended.” There is an online form available from the Slough in Bloom website . You can also email to enter with your contact details to: sloughinbloom@gmail.com Entries close on 27 June, and the winners will be announced later in the summer.
